During the 1960s, British television producer Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds, Space: 1999) created a series of programs utilizing “Supermarionation”, an unconventional style that blended puppetry with live action. 1969’s The Secret Service was Anderson’s final supermarionation series before he turned exclusively to the live-action format.
The series stars Father Unwin, a seemingly-typical parish priest who owns a unique machine that shrinks people down to a fraction of their size, and is soon recruited into the British Secret Service to undertake a series of dangerous missions.
