Stephen Malkmus was the front person and main songwriter in Pavement, and the Jicks are his new Portland based band that feature amongst others Janet Weiss from sleater-kinney. Real Emotional Trash may be Stephen's fourth solo album but he has stated this record is way more about the band than any of his other records. Recorded in Montana by TJ Doherty, RET is decidedly low down and heavy while maintaining the pop jams we have come to expect from SM.
