May we introduce you to Monkey.
Monkey is the new project for Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett… the gents who brought you Gorillaz. Damon does the music and Jamie does the graphics, which were such a major part of the Gorillaz



The Gorillaz masterminds have now mutated in to Monkey and bring you Journey to the West. The album was recorded in London and Beijing over the last twelve months and features European and Chinese musicians and singers. It draws upon the music Damon composed (and the visuals Jamie created) for the Chinese opera production of the same name.

The storyline is based on ancient Chinese texts. Many Australians will be familiar with the story as it formed the basis of the legendary TV series Monkey Magic. As you can imagine with Jamie Hewlett involved this is going to be a very visual project.

The stage version, "Monkey: Journey to the West" made its London debut at the Royal Opera House in July.
