The good ship Bang Gang is set to sail the seven seas and traverse endless dimensions of dance all over again, with their forthcoming release D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing.

Following on from 2006’s expansive, mind-warping compilation Light Sound Dance, a trip into a forest of 4/4 from which we feared they’d never return, D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing introduces a whole new level of trance travel for The Bang Gang Deejays. Sailing the heaving oceans of fidget house, plumbing the depths of deep, late night techno, floating the breezy bays of Baltimore club and frolicking gayly in the shorebreak of disco, D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing is the most thrillingly forward thinking and downright jacking mix The Bang Gang Deejays are yet to piece together.

Light Sound Dance portrayed 2 shades of The Bang Gang Deejays repertoire across The Black Disc and The White Disc, and likewise D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing is again split into 2 parts. D Is For Disco is the more playful, eclectic of the two, equally suited for play in your café to accompany your piccolo latte or perfect for a session of qualudes on the couch, while E Is For Dancing is the more focused, darker, nasty little bitch created with the sole purpose of more serious, shirts off, hedonistic virgin sacrifice-style partying.

Also new to the compilation this time around, is the inclusion of 4 specially commissioned remixes of already popular tracks, appearing for the first time on this release. Cut Copy’s album highlight “Far Away” has been given a glamorous revamp by Sydneysiders Bag Raiders, Perth boy-wonder Shazam has give Sweden’s The Tough Alliance a fantastic French touch on “Neo Violence”, while The Bang Gang themselves have given “Kicking And Screaming” by The Presets a fabulously banging refix. Hear here only!

Whether a mellower shade of daytime disco is your thing, or a harder, darker style of night musik is your dance dose, D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing is shaping up to be the only collection of modern day acid jazz worth your salt this summer.

Jaime Doom, Gus Da Hoodrat, Dangerous Dan, DJ Damage, Ajax and Double Nolan started their now notorious Bang Gang weekly in a Sydney strip club in 2003. The party rapidly became the hands down best night out in Australia, luring guest DJ’s like Tiga, Mylo, Felix Da Housecat, Damian Lazarus and so many more down into their subterranean rave cave to play regularly to what became one of the most flamboyant, freaky crowds going round.

Since then, members of the troop have gone on to spread their individual wings far and wide, with Gus and Jaime overseeing the brilliantly banging Bang Gang 12 Inches record label and touring the world, Ajax being voted Australia’s #1 DJ in 2007 and releasing his own mix CD’s left right and centre, Dangerous Dan’s hands are full running an interstellar fashion empire, while DJ Damage has moved on from Riot In Belgium and is readying his first solo release for the Kitsune label and Double Nolan continues to work as Ksubi’s art director and throwing the occasional Gay Bash party in Sydney.

2008 marks 5 years of Bang Gang mayhem, and what better way to celebrate the lowlife and high times of these roebuck party mavericks than with D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing.

    HYMN TO THE IMMORTAL WIND

While Hymn continues to mine the cinematic drama inherent in all of MONO's music, the dynamic shifts now come more from dark-to-light instead of quiet-to-loud. The maturity to balance these elements so masterfully has become MONO's strongest virtue - save for perhaps their uncanny ability to sound every bit like a plane crashing into a Beethoven concert.
