Never Before Seen Mystik Spiral Spin-off Script
  | Finally! Peveus on 31.05.2011 Daria has to be one of the best animated series ever made, and it's a travesty that it has taken until now to come to DVD in Australia. This is a must have for any Daria fan, as the entire series is present along with the two movies and several other extras. The sound is excellent, although the picture quality in some episodes looks a bit dodgy, I assume because this show is so old. Interestingly they have opted to cut the intro from every episode after the pilot, so you will only hear that iconic intro music once. In the long run it's for the best, as it lets you get right into the episode. If I have one real complaint it would be the packaging. It is perhaps the worst I have ever seen for a DVD set. DVDs are stacked three deep, and locked in from all sides, making it almost impossible to remove some of the discs. It actually feels like they're about to snap when they finally come free. |
| About bloody time Aj on 06.06.2011 The packaging of this DVD is probably the only real issue I have with this release (A fatpack would've done just as well) otherwise it's great to finally have this classic series on DVD. One of the main reasons it's been this long was the issue with licensing all the music featured on the show's original run (it was all sourced from MTV's library...back when they actually played music) so it would've been an expensive nightmare to acquire the rights to every track featured on the show. Fortunately, the replacement incidental music is surprisingly fresh & reminiscent of the late 90's vibe the series managed to capture. |
| Series: Good Packaging: AWFUL! CV on 07.06.2011 After 5 years of waiting for this fantastic series to come out on DVD I unwrapped my Daria boxset earlier this week to find the discs were next to impossible to remove from their cover. After much struggling I opted to remove them from the box altogether and store them in separate CD cases. I googled the american boxset afterward and found out theirs was like a fat DVD case with the discs in proper holders and easy to remove from the box. Why can't we get something like that in Australia as well? |
| PQ CH on 08.06.2011 The show is great, but could they have at least cleaned up the video a little bit? I don't expect 8K scans of the original negatives cleaned up by Lowry Digital, but with its flat colours and thick outlines, they could have done a better job of removing the grain and interlacing. Otherwise, the show is very good. |
| Amazing show, horrible packaging Jade on 09.06.2011 This show is amazing. I have been waiting a long time for them to release the entire series in Australia. I was overwhelmed when I saw it here on the JB website. But when it arrived, I must agree that the packaging baffled me. I felt like I was going to snap the discs while trying to take them out of the case. I actually have them stored in CD covers for now so they're easy to get to. Apart from that, the show is fantastic and definetly a favourite of mine. The pictures are not as clear as I hoped, but perhaps that's because this show is quite old. |
