It boasts a low distortion, high-resolution f/2.0 Leica DC Vario Summicron lens with a 24mm wide-angle and 3.8x optical zoom. This remarkable lens captures over 200% more image than a standard 35mm lens, enabling you to shoot amazingly expressive shots with wide perspective. Yet it clearly renders the tiniest nuances, corner to corner. While the fully open f/2.0-3.3 aperture works in tandem with the iris diaphragm to produce stunning scenes with gentle soft focusing.

Advanced image capturing technology
The big 1/1.63-inch, 10.1-megapixel ultra-sensitive CCD achieves high resolution, noise-less images even in high sensitivity recording, augmented by richly reproduced gradation in high contrast situations. This leading-edge CCD reproduces beautifully sharp images shot with the lens set from 24mm to 90mm in any of three aspect ratios; 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9.

Exquisitely rendered images even in extended zoom
Intelligent Resolution technology automatically detects 3 areas – outlines, detailed texture and soft gradation. As well as uniformly sharpening, this technology performs precise signal processing pixel by pixel, area by area. So images are consistently clear and crisp in both photos and movies. The Intelligent Zoom extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x while maintaining image quality- even when combined with digital zoom. A 3.8x optical can virtually extend to 5x equivalent.

High-end Dolby Digital sound & spectacular HD movie
The Lumix DMC-LX5 can record HD movie in AVCHD Lite with quality Dolby Digital sound. It also has Motion JPEG format (1,280 x 720 pixels). To start shooting, you just press the Movie Recording button. Panasonic’s acclaimed iA mode can be used for movies, or you can quickly switch to Creative Movie mode if you want to take control of the shutter speed and aperture.

Enjoy outstanding manual operation & creative expression
Excellent manual control is a standout feature of the Lumix DMC-LX5. It has a smooth intuitive jog dial, and the focus switch is handily located on the lens barrel. Dynamic customised colour effects are easily achieved in My Colour Mode and Film Mode.

The camera’s big, bright, 460,000-dot high resolution 3.0-inch LCD allows you to compose, assess, adjust, choose and experiment like a pro while you’re shooting. And you can take your pick from a wide range of optional accessories to match your shooting situations and style, including view finders, filters and external flashes.

See and share your images on your TV
SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot) on a VIERA TV or Panasonic Blu Ray recorder / player to playback your FHD content. Or connect your Lumix LX5 to your Panasonic VIErA TV via a mini HDMI cable and you can use the TV's remote control to play your stills and movies on the big screen.
