Optical Active SteadyShot represents the next step forward in Sony image stabilization technology. Active Mode improves on existing Optical SteadyShot image stabilization by allowing the camera lens to shift over a greater range of motion. This allows the HDRXR520V to compensate for greater degrees of camera shake and deliver an amazing level of image smoothness.

Built in GPS tagging with touch screen control
This Handycam features a built-in GPS receiver that allows you to use the touch screen to view your current location on the LCD map display, as well as "tag" your shooting locations. You can view your tagged videos and pictures via the Map Index function or once you've downloaded them to your PC using the supplied Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software.

Hybrid Technology Record video to Hard Disk Drive or Memory Stick!
Hybrid Technology gives you the best of both worlds! Record High Definition 1920 x 1080 video direct to the internal 240GB Hard Disk Drive or to an optional Memory Stick. Using HD Long Play (1440x1080) you can record over 96 hours of footage before needing to export to external storage!

12.0 Mega Pixel Still Image Capture with flash
HDRXR520V allows you to capture spectacular 12.0 Mega Pixel still images when in dedicated still mode with flash! You can also record a 8.3 Mega Pixel still image at the same time as recording full motion video!

One of the most impressive features of the HDRXR520V is its stunning 3.2" Touch Screen LCD Panel. The larger size allows you to view all of your footage in spectacular detail, while "Xtra Fine" technology truly brings your HD images to life. The touch screen natively displays 921,600 dots (1920 x 480) meaning every image is displayed crisply.

Microphone & Headphone Jacks
For those who are serious about sound, the HDRXR520V enhances the recording experience by allowing you to connect a powered external microphone to the camera. Monitoring audio levels is also made easier thanks to the external headphone jack allowing you to instantly hear what you are recording via a pair of optional headphones.
