Based on the Marvel Comics series, THE INCREDIBLE HULK is the story of Dr. David Bruce Banner, a research scientist trying to find a way to tap into the hidden strength that all humans possess. One night in his laboratory, an experiment goes wrong, causing him to become overexposed to gamma radiation, which alters his body chemistry. Now, whenever David Banner becomes angered or outraged, a startling metamorphosis occurs, transforming the mild-mannered scientist into a powerful seven-foot green creature dubbed by the press as "The Incredible Hulk". The creature is driven by rage, dealing with whatever angers David. But unfortunately, David has no control over the creature's actions and cannot remember what he has done during his metamorphosis. Because the creature is wanted for a murder he didn't commit, Banner must allow the world at large to believe he is dead. This anonymity enables him to travel around the country in search of a cure for his condition, while taking various odd jobs under different aliases. During his travels, he is pursued by an investigative reporter, Jack McGee, who is determined to capture and expose the creature.
