Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini was murdered shortly before the original release of the film. Although his death was in no way a retaliation to the film's graphic imagery, what was to follow was a gruelling battle with censors for over 30 years for the re-release of this previously banned shocker. The film begins with four men of power (A president, prime minister, etc.) who marry each other's daughters and decide to steal several young men and women to participate in their cruel and sadistic acts of sexual depravity. The film is set on the cusp of the Nazi invasion in Europe and shows the ugliness of true fascism. |
