A witty, sophisticated comedy in the tradition of The Big Chill, the Four Seasons was the first writer/director vehicle for M*A*S*H star Alan Alda (The Aviator), who also plays Jack, the moral conscience in a group of wealthy middle-aged couples who gather four times a year for a group vacation. Jack and Kate (Carol Burnett) are the glue of the group; he's a lawyer who is too sensitive for his own good-a fun play on Alda's persona. Danny (Jack Weston) is a neurotic, paranoid dentist whose hot-blooded wife Claudia (Rita Moreno) provides him with balance. Nick (Len Cariou) and Anne (the late, great Sandy Dennis) celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary in the first get-together, after which he dumps her for a much younger woman, Ginny (Bess Armstrong). Celebrating the wisdom of life experience, this quirky feel-good comedy garnered 4 Golden Globe nominations (including Best Actor and Best Screenplay for Alda).
