Probably the finest film of the past decade, Goodfellas has all the ingredients of a perfect movie. An excellent script, a soundtrack which is as memorable as the film itself and unforgettable character acting - especially by De Niro and Pesci. Scorcese makes the world of the 'Wiseguy' as appealing and exciting as Francis Ford Coppola did in his Godfather masterpieces, with the added bonus of rapid fire dialogues. Whereas one may remember single lines from The Godfather, any fan of Goodfellas would be able to recite entire conversations, such as the 'What am I, a clown?'... A perfect movie.

In the living room of a suburban home, Liam Lombard lays dying. His family watches - helpless. There was no warning. No signs. And no time for goodbyes. Three years later the self-destructive world of the four people who loved him most is changed forever as they come to realise what really died that day was themselves.

The title character leads viewers through an accidental travelogue of U.S. social history from the early 1960s through the present in this revisionist fable. Vietnam, desegregation, Watergate, and more are presented from the perspective of Tom Hanks's loveably slow-witted Forrest Gump as he finds himself embroiled in situations he can't quite comprehend.
