Set against the majestic splendour of the Rocky Mountains, Heartland is a sprawling family drama that follows sisters Amy and Lou Fleming through the highs and lows of life on a horse ranch.Amy (Amber Marshall) finds herself in the limelight when she performs what appears to be a "miracle" on a traumatised horse and a video of the event is posted online. Ty (Graham Wardle) pursues his dream of becoming a vet, with Scott (Nathaniel Arcand) as his mentor. His relationship with Amy is progressing nicely, but something from his past catches up to him at Heartland.Tim - Amy and Lou's father (Chris Potter) - is still around and becoming more of a presence in his daughters' lives. And although there is still a long way to go, he and Jack (Shaun Johnston) - his ex-father in law - are beginning to get along. That is, as well as can be expected. While her equestrian retreat - or "Dude Ranch" as the rest of the family refers to it - has turned out to be successful, an unexpected situation significantly affects Lou (Michelle Morgan). For all of them one thing never changes - their intense passion to keep the dream of Heartland alive.
