He hangs specially-made hives at the top of the tallest trees in the surrounding forest, and must suspend himself precariously from the uppermost branches to gather the honey. In awe of his father's acrobatic skill, the forest becomes an enchanted place of mystery and adventure for Yusuf, a safe haven from the intimidating school yard. When Yakup is sent far away on an errand, Yusuf slips into silence-much to the distress of his pretty young mother Zehra. But as days pass, she too falls into sadness, and Yusuf must summon all his courage to search deep into the forest for his father: a journey into the unknown...Winner of the Golden Bear at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival, Honey is a beguiling depiction of the innocence and fascination of childhood.
