Based on John Osborne's play in which a university graduate (Richard Burton) comes to terms with his grudge against middle-class life and values. British cinema in the late 50s was dominated by the "angry young men", a term referring to both the writers and their subject matter. The movement also became known as "Kitchen Sink Dramas" because of their bleakobsession with the miserable ordinariness that was life in post-war Britain. Directed by one of the leaders of the movement, Tony Richardson, "Look back in Anger" is considered it's signature film as well as one of Richard Burton's finest performances. It also features brilliant performances from two of the finest UK actresses of the day; Claire Bloom and Mary Ure.
