  | MAD MEN Mad Men Season 5 on 25.11.2012 MAD MEN is a quality TV 'soapie' best viewed from Season one as there is a continuity to the tales. SBS is still showing series 2 late at night. Perhaps the newer series have become prohibitively expensive? I've just finished viewing series 5 and....well, at the beginning five shows it was a bit slow then picked up momentum and finished in fine form. The music is original - scored in 1960s style using mics and techniques that are no longer used by recording studios (in order to capture an authentic 60s sound). The 'extras' for DVD viewers only, includes a lengthy documentary on how music was written at home electronically then re-recorded using a 30-piece orchestra. Worth getting hold of the DVD for that story alone if you are a music industry professional. A couple of the original characters have been written out of the future series.
