Winter, 1943. Set against the horrific Italian World War II tragedy known as the Marzabotto Massacre, The Man Who Will Come tells the story of Martina, an innocent 8 year-old girl who hasn't spoken since her baby brother died in her arms. With her mother, Lena, about to give birth Martina is momentarily optimistic about their future. But with the ravages of war and the impending invasion of German troops their simple but idyllic village life is threatened by fear and famine as they struggle to feed their families and friends who have fled the city for safer climes. As the villagers attempt to lead a semi-normal life they are torn between their loyalty to each other, the mounting pressure to help the partisans and their own desperate plight for survival.
