Oscar-winning Sofia Coppola brings to the screen an imaginative interpretation of the life of France’s legendary teenage queen, Marie Antoinette. When betrothed to King Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman), the naïve Marie Antoinette (Kirsten Dunst) enters the opulent French court, which is steeped in conspiracy and scandal. Without guidance, adrift in a dangerous world, the young girl rebels against the isolated atmosphere at Versailles and becomes France’s most misunderstood monarch.
Special Features:
Behind-the-scenes feature on the making of the movie with cast and crew interviews
Never-before-seen deleted scenes
'Cribs with Louis XVI' featurette
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Review for 'Marie Antoinette' Annie on 12.04.2011 This movie has had its fair share of bad reviews, but I want to give it a GOOD review on what I thought about it. Although the film has been criticized for the rock & roll music and very modern parts, this film was basically trying to explain the human side of Marie Antoinette, and that she was, after all, just a teenager girl when she married the Dauphin. The ending was very emotional. No there wasn't an execution scene, no there wasn't a prison but I was one of the most heartbreaking scenes I have ever seen. It didn't say 'THE END'. It said 'the end' emotionally and in the right way, it wasn't a death ending, but a haunting one none the less. I have given this film a 4 because although it was incredible, there were a few faults. But overall i enjoyed the film tremendously and I will definitely be watching it again! |
