A romantic comedy set in a regional newsroom between warring co-anchors Beatrice and Benedick. Much Ado About Nothing, where Beatrice presents a popular early evening regional news show called "Points West", a throwback to a more innocent era. But when the show declines in ratings Ben, a quiz show presenter is recalled and set up with her as co-anchor. They loathe each other but the audience loves them, so will they ever admit to each other what others seem to know... that they're made for each other.
Jilted on their first date three years earlier, Beatrice is horrified when Benedick is invited back into the fold to replace her current co-anchor. Benedick's pompous posturing does nothing to lesson her feelings of loathing. Running parallel to this tempestuous partnership is the whirlwind romance between dishy sports presenter Claude and intellectually challenged weather girl Hero. Newly demoted and increasingly unstable director Don is also vying for Hero's affections.
It soon becomes clear that Beatrice and Benedick are made for each other but it takes their colleague's well meaning trickery to get them to finally admit to each other and most importantly to themselves that they are a match made in heaven. Claude and Hero are simpler souls and make plans to wed hot on the heels of their first meeting. However, Don's sinister plotting stokes Claude's jealousy and he dramatically rejects Hero at the alter. Hero's subsequent attack on Don ends with the wrongly accused weather girl being admitted to hospital with serious head injuries.
All's well that ends well though and Much Ado About Nothing has an uplifting conclusion where all love interests eventually find understanding and happiness. Benedick and Beatrice are married, Claude admits his mistake and begs for Hero's hand and she finds inner strength and a surprising desire to stand on her own two feet.
