Miri is a flight attendant for Israel's El Al airlines. Beautiful yet plagued with sadness - the result of losing two husbands to Israel's wars - Miri lives with her sister, Gila, who is in the process of divorcing her husband. After arriving home from a flight, Miri is confronted by her Chinese cleaning lady, who pleads with her in broken English to look after her six-year -old son for "one hour." But as the hours roll by with no sign of the boy's mother, Miri becomes increasingly concerned. The boy, nicknamed "Noodle", speaks no Hebrew and no English, and even with the help of a Chinese phrasebook Miri is unable to communicate with the confused child. As the days go by, Miri's frustration at being saddled with Noodle gives way to fiercely maternal love, but she realises that she must help find his own mother, no matter how dangerous the method.
