Pet Sematary: Sometimes dead is better. Director Mary Lambert's (THE IN CROWD) second film is a very underrated rendering of a Stephen King bestseller. In it a young family, the Creeds have recently moved to a new neighborhood where they very quickly lose their cat, which is run over by a speeding truck. The Creed's neighbor, Jud (Fred Gwynne), feeling bad for the family, tells Mr. Creed (Dale Midkiff) about the secret Indian burial ground in the neighborhood, which has mysterious rejuvenating powers. However, when the Creed's infant son meets a fate similar to the family pet, Mr. Creed can't resist temptation and he brings an unspeakable evil back from the grave.
Pet Sematary 2: Following the accidental death of his mother, Jeff Matthews (Edward Furlong) moves with his father Chase Matthews (Anthony Edwards) to the small town of Ludlow, Maine. No one lives in Ludlow for long without hearing about the tragedy of the Creed family and the dark mythology of the cursed indian burial ground which lies beyond the local pet cemetery. After his friend's dog is killed by an abusive stepfather, Jeff witnesses the power of the "Mi'kmaq burial ground" first-hand when he and his friend bring the pet back to life. Longing for his dead mother, Jeff returns to the burial ground to reanimate her corpse, with horrific results. She comes back, in the same manner as Gage Creed.
