Anais Nin (Maria de Medeiros) is a struggling writer married to supportive banker husband, Hugh Guiler (Richard E. Grant). In 1931 Paric, she meets America author Henry Miller (Fred Ward). Miller, working on his one day to be famous book Tropic of Cancer, and both begin an exploration of overt sexuality and eroticism, opening her to a world of new experiences.
