The Leyland Brothers and their journeys across this country have become a part of Australian television history. For years, millions of Australians saw parts of this country they'd never seen before, simply because someone, somewhere, had "asked the Leylands". Here, for the first time on DVD, is the Leyland Brothers' historic West-East crossing of Australia in 1966 - from Steep Point in WA to Cape Byron in NS W - along with the recent retracing of the epic journey by Mal Leyland and his entourage. In the latter program, Mal discusses the contrast between the first and second expeditions, and how new communications and GPS devices have changed the notion of adventure travel. We also hear what inspired them to undertake such a journey, their reactions to seeing the people and places that so inspired them on their first journey, and find out how the Leyland's adventures helped spawn the 4x4 revolution in Australia.
