From its very first season, ER quickly became one of America’s most beloved dramas, instantly hooking viewers on the lives, loves and losses of the staff of the fictional County General Hospital, a Level One Trauma Center in Chicago. The second season of the series was pivotal, as viewers grew ore attached to the cast and the tory lines became increasingly complex and intense. Numerous big-name stars have launched their careers on the series, including George Clooney, Anthony Edwards, Eriq La Salle, Julianna Marguiles, Laura Innes and Noah Wyle, among others.

In the memorable second season holiday episode “A Miracle Happens Here,” Nurse Hathaway (Julianna Marguiles) treats a Kris Kringle look-a-like before heading to a last-minute caroling party where Shep (Rob Eldard) proposes. And who could forget when Dr. Ross (George Clooney) storms out of the hospital after losing his fellowship, only to find and rescue an injured boy (Eric Von Detten) trapped in a rural storm drain (“Hell & High Water”). In the heartwrenching season finale (“John Carter, M.D.”), Jeanie Boulet (Gloria Reuben) and Dr. Benton (Eriq LaSalle) are tested for the AIDS virus, Dr. Lewis (Sherry Stringfield) refuses the offer for chief resident, and Nurse Hathway quits after being frustrated by medical red tape.
