The final instalment in the legendary Octopus Series from RAI Italy. Throughout The Octopus series we have seen many generations of the Mafia, starting in the 1950's and now ending in the 1990's. We return to find an ageing and solitary Tano Cariddi in his hideaway on the slopes of Mount Etna, where we left him at the end of Octopus Series 7. He is tormented at night by his past: his mother, father, sister, wife, lost loves and villainy are the nocturnal phantoms from which Tano is trying to escape. Men, young and old, obliged to defend a proud past; young sons, knowing or oblivious, having to make cruel decisions: whether to be ruined by shame or to embark on anextreme and lawless adventure.
The OCTOPUS (Series 8) (2 DVD) $33.99 (AUD) Through the adolescent eyes of Tano Cariddi, who is growing up in Sicily in the 1950's, we see the story of the Altamura family, landowners from USA who return to revisit their homeland. Their life soon turns into a nightmare, when their son is kidnapped in a power struggle between two Mafia leaders. | The Octopus (Series 7) (3 Dvd Set) $47.99 (AUD) The Cattani Murder Case - A seemingly unimportant petty criminal's return to Sicily for imprisonment reopens magistrate Silvia Conti's investigation of the death of her former colleague and lover Corrado Cattani. | $33.99 (AUD) Baroness Barbara Altamura is investigating the shady dealings between her husband's bank and the Mafia. She has a series of secret liasons with the captain Carlo Arcuti, her one time lover, in order to pass on the information and gradually the smoldering passions of their love affair ignites once again. | $47.99 (AUD) |
$19.99 (AUD) Both Martin Rome (Richard Conte) and Vittorio Candella (Victor Mature) grow up tough on New York's Lower East Side as kids. But their lives take different paths - Candella makes him way up the police ranks, while Rome takes to a life of crime. A botched robbery leads to a cop killing by Rome. Candella seethes as the cocky Rome recuperates, and then escapes. | $23.99 (AUD) | $19.99 (AUD) | Inspector Montalbano: Volume 5 $38.99 (AUD) From the pen of Sicilian writer, Andrea Camilleri, Inspector Montalbano's gruff and charismatic style of crime investigations remains a huge favourite with Australian fans. Inspector Montalbano resides in a fictional seaside town called Vigata, and works with a team of, ahem, mixed abilities. Not only is he distracted by his staff, he also finds exotic visitors from other parts of Italy also get in the way of solving the crime. |
