After starring in "The Sacketts", Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott team up again but this time as Mac and Dal Traven, in another movie based on yet another classic Louis L'Amour novel. Again they are brothers, but this time meet up at the end of the Civil War fighting on opposite sides. The go home only to find their family in dire need and their sisters and brother kidnapped by ruthless raiders. They set forth on an adventure to rescue their family, and also Dal's girlfreind portrayed by Katherine Ross. Veteran western actor Ben Johnson portrays their Uncle Jack Traven, who brings to this movie his own brand of wisdom and humor as only he can do. The plot flows steady and is entertaining with many twists and turns to keep you guessing. Aside from the main characters there are several other veteran actors that you will recognize. This western will appeal to those that love westerns and entertainment without the language and gore of some modern moives.
