 | Best headphones at this price Userrr on 22.09.2011 This is the best headphone I ever had.Previously has AKG K311 andK315.This time I was looking for a bit higher end.Actually I went in Jb to buy a Sennheiser HD 218 but after listening to this in store I didn't find any set which can compare this.Even HD 280 Pro is also just little bit better but even they don't have max volume as AKG have. |

Re: Sound Quality The only other open headphone that I have is the Grado S80i and I must say that the K420 makes a good addition. Good backup for when I want to travel lighter. For my preference, it could use a little more bass and mids. Run through an amp and it opens up nicely. But still, the in-balance will be retained. Dislikes: -chord is too short (about 1 metre) an extension would've been nice, -the foam is a bit thin, and you can't change/ buy new ones. From the thin foam, I can feel the plastic on my outer ears which are 24cm wide (mid ear to mid ear) - Ear fatigue until I shape the headband accordingly |
| Good all round performer Big Steve on 28.04.2012 I wanted a pair of headphones that could be used for both portable use on an MP4 and home use with a Denon Amp. I have always been a Sennheiser 'junkie' but these seemed to fit the bill nicely. I bought them untested and was more than surprised at how good these 'phones are. Very balanced sound on both media but the 'doof doof' crowd better look away now because you won't get the real low end. As I'm the wrong side of fifty, I probably can't hear that spectrum anyway... I knocked off a star for the thin foam earpieces which need to be more substantial for prolonged listening and you will need a headphone extension cord for home use unless you sleep next to your amplifier. |
