Sharp & Clear

The TDK Life on Record SC, is composed of fine particles of Avilyn magnetic material densely packed on the tape, producing a high output over its entire range. As it's name applies, it delivers Sharp (S) and Clear (C) colour images. Thanks to the tough construction of its base film and magnetic layer, it features outstanding durability retaining beautiful images even after repeated everyday recording and playback. SC is an easy-to-use tape that makes it easier than ever for anyone to enjoy highly satisfying results.

Technical Specifications

The performance of any tape is ultimately determined by its magnetic formulation. SC employs the same highly refined Avilyn formulation called Avifine as found in the HS grade of tape, which produces beautiful results time and time again, both in regular and LP mode. Magnetic properties such as coercivity determine the ability of a tape to maintain its magnetic properties, and therefore its ability to reproduce the faithfulness of colour fidelity.

As a result, sharpness has been improved from 57.3kA/m to 58.1k A/m. Such advancements translate into improvements in luminance (brightness) up to +2.0dB and chrominance S/N (colour) up + 1.50dB, all refinements compared to TDK's previous HS formulation. The bottom line of such specifications ultimately translates into picture sharpness up 6% and picture clarity up 5%.

However, formulation improvements are wasted unless an effective binder system holds and protects the particles from the elements and rigours of hard use. HS utilises a highly refined formulation that is held firmly in place by an extremely 'toughened' binder and base film that will withstand the rigours of repeated and high speed search applications.
