Built and designed for HD movie entertainment, Pioneer’s entry-level BDP-120 Blu-ray player delivers ten times better picture quality and twenty times better audio performance than a conventional DVD player.
Sitting only 58mm high and taking only 0.8 seconds to start-up from stand-by mode, the BDP-120 is Pioneer’s fastest and slimmest Blu-ray player on the market.
Connect to a high definition television and experience the real-cinema quality never seen before on a DVD player or VCR machine. Superseding Pioneer’s previous entry-level (BDP-51FD) Blu-ray player, the BDP-120 is equipped with improvements, such as BD-Live, Quick Start and built-in memory, as well as featuring standard Pioneer Blu-ray features like comprehensive on-board HD audio decoding and bitstream audio.
Moreover, add high-performance DVD playback to the list of features and you have a Blu-ray Disc player that delivers the picture quality, product connectivity and compatibility, which justifies an upgrade from DVD.
See the difference with Pioneer Blu-ray 1080p/24fps
One of the most compelling reasons to upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray is the vast improvement in picture quality Blu-ray has to offer.
Thanks to Blu-ray technology, we can now watch a movie and see/hear the action exactly as the film director intended.
In general, Hollywood blockbuster movies are filmed with 1080p high definition camera, which captures scenes in 24 frames per second. Each frame is critical to the overall excellent picture quality you experience when you go to a cinema.
This exact cinema-like picture quality can now be replicated in your own living room courtesy of the Pioneer BDP-120, which will playback a Blu-ray Hollywood blockbuster movie in high definition / 24 frames per second, so you can see exactly what the director saw when he was looking through his camera, capturing the scene.
Conventional DVD players are incapable of playing back a movie as it was originally captured - in 1080p high definition and 24 frames per second. Instead, a DVD player is forced to manipulate the image, resulting in an inferior movie picture on your HD TV.
BD-Live™ (Profile 2.0)
To take full advantage of the extra features becoming available on Blu-ray Discs, the BDP-120 features BD-Live, which will further enhance and personalise the consumer’s entertainment experience.
Courtesy of BD-Live, users can watch a Blu-ray disc movie whilst watching the bonus features at the same time, such as picture in picture.
The BDP-120 Blu-ray player is equipped with an Ethernet port that allows movie enthusiasts to connect to the Internet to download data such as subtitles, images and bonus trailers, synchronise viewing with other BD-Live players and join in live chat sessions, online gaming and video messaging when viewing BD-Live compatible titles.
To provide storage capacity for BD-Live entertainment, Pioneer’s BDP-120 model features a USB port for use with compatible flash drives and hard disc drives.
Pioneer’s Fastest & Slimmest Blu-ray player
The BDP-120 is the fastest Pioneer Blu-ray player on the market thanks to a new Quick Start feature. No need to wait – the unit starts up in 0.8 seconds from stand-by, ready for instant viewing.
Capable of going where no other Pioneer Blu-ray has gone, the BDP-120 measures only 58mm high, allowing it to be easily placed into a smaller space on a TV stand or A/V rack.
