I done a lot of research on bluray players before I came across with El-cheapo. I have never seen a touch sensitive control panel for this price. I have played every kind of file format on this player, I have hooked up a 320gig external hard drive to the usb input and played avi, avi HD, Avchd, Mp4 video, Xvid, Mkv, X264, and H263p. Its just like having a media player built into to the Blu-ray and with a 1 years warranty how can you go wrong. I am so happy with player that I am going to buy a 1 terra byte external hard drive so I will no longer have to buy or burn disks ever again.

So far this plays DVD's and DivX's well. Tried DVD's, Bluray, dual layer DVD, CD's and mp3's.It also supports MKV. All work perfectly. Loading seems to be quite fast (a lot of early players loaded very slowly). It supports long file names but I dislike the way it does menu's: you have to select what type of data you want to view ie. video, audio or pictures. Simpler to just show a list of files and then let the player load them as appropriate. However all Bluray players seem to do this even the high priced ones. Remote seems to work OK although I have to point it at the unit: can't bounce it off the wall and back at the unit. Doesn't have an optical out (don't know if that matters). Also no VGA out (which is quite handy sometimes). Haven't tried the BD live feature yet or the USB. Wish the ethernet supported automatic firmware updates. That would be nice. Would be nice if you could stream video content from the internet like the Sony (but perhaps not at this price?). Ulocked it easily: the codes are up on whirlpool. Don't know what chipset is in the unit. I'll have to take it apart and see. Doesn't upscale... but that's a minor thing. Works perfectly with my Infocus X2 projector. The real test will be when I let the kids loose on it. The player will get a lot of use then. So far none of the cheap players have survived much more than a year... but my much dearer and MUCH older LG keeps going (so it's not the kids it's the quality of the player). Initial impressions are all positive.

Best value for Dollar. Was very excited when read the previous reviews and bought it today, and in just 1 word.. it was amazing, cant be more happier, it plays the HDD ( which was the main reason i bought this !!!) GO AND BUY THIS PLAYER.... u wont regret it.. I promise

Great value for money - plays every format you can think of. At first i found the playback was jerky - i simply changed the default playback setting from " PAL " to "AUTOMATIC" and problem solved.The only minor irritation is the remote,it's not very responsive ,but that would be my only gripe.Well done Soniq and J.B. - you have put a flexible and well priced Blu-ray player within the reach of many people on a budget.

I am amazed that a player at such a low price can play all the file types that a more expensive, higher quality bluray player like the new 3D samsung bluray player can. All in all i couldn't be happier (so far). I did a lot of research prior to buying and found that the player is also multi-region player which is a plus. Pros: - Plays almost every file type (avi, divx, divxHD, mp4, mkv, avchd) - Plays off both NTFS and FAT32 USB and HDD which is amazing. - Loads files fairly quickly and scanning through movies on a usb or HD is quick and smooth. - Loads blu ray discs fairly quickly as well. Cons: - LED display light sucks and you cannot see time elapsed from a movie. - May take a couple of seconds to locate a HD or USB. - The remote needs to be pointed directly at the player to work. But that said, the Soniq B100 is worth the $99 it is. It does everything a high end blu ray player does and even more. I found on a samsung 3d bluray it cannot play mkv or avchd files unlike the b100.
