Bravest Man In The Universe, The (Vinyl) $24.99 (AUD) Bobby Womack was born 1944 in Cleveland and raised in a big musical family. In the 1960s he started THE WOMACK BROTHERS and moved on to play with legendary soul singer SAM COOKE. Under the guidance of Cooke, The Womack Brothers became THE VALENTINOS and created such hits as "Lookin For Love" and "It's All Over Now" - which was covered by THE ROLLING STONES early in their career and proved to be a huge success hitting #1 in the UK. Womack went solo in the late 60s and became a massive soul star in his own right, a true peer of SLY STONE, MARVIN GAY, STEVIE WONDER and CURTIS MAYFIELD. He wrote material for the likes of JANIS JOPLIN, WILSON PICKETT and GEORGE BENSON and played guitar on records by SLY & THE FAMILY STONE, ARETHA FRANKLIN and THE BOX TOPS. He also wrote the theme to the classic BLAXPLOITATION movie Across 110th Street. 'The Bravest Man In The Universe' is Bobby Womack's first album of original material since 1994. The new album is co-produced by Damon Albarn (GORILLAS/BLUR) | $21.99 (AUD) | $24.99 (AUD) | Superfly: Deluxe 25th Anniversary Edition $30.99 (AUD) |
