Barn Owl are a San Francisco duo who've been around since 2006 and previously released records on hipper-thanthou labels such as Not Not Fun, Root Strata and Digitalis, as well as having played all the big festivals. Ancestral Star is their new album and it's a monumental brew of doom-laden sludge of the Sunn O))) / Earth school but tempered with a deep Americana twang not unlike Neil Young's Dead Man soundtrack.
