This is the first full-length from THE ICARUS LINE frontman JOE CARDAMONE and guitarist DON DEVORE, aka SOULS SHE SAID. These recordings are a definite departure and serve as the more beat driven, dark indie rock cousin to ICARUS LINE'S beautifully gory lo-fi sound. Recorded in Philadelphia and right here in Australia, 'As Templar Nites' still incorporates CARDAMONE'S haunting voice and lyrics and DEVORE'S perfectly jagged and distorted guitar works, but this album is a real surprise. Neither the car-crash-scream -core-fest of the ICARUS LINE, yet not the self-indulgence that solo projects often end up sounding like, SOULS SHE SAID is a rock n' roll revelation. Full ofspiked up and jagged art-rock riffs that have been booted out of IGGY POP'S Nightclub, it makes spiraling out-of-control sound great. Think of THE RAPTURE if they toughened up or DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 if they lost the macho posing (and moustaches).
