Recorded at Northcote's Social Club on February 6, "in front of a live studio audience". Like it's predecessor, the basics was mixed at Abbey Road Studios by Chief Engineer Peter Cobbin (Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter). Features extra part-time Basics David Bramble (Vocals, Keys, Percussion), Simon Imrei (Vocals, Guitar), Gideon Brazil (Saxophone) and "Uncle" Monty Mackenzie (Saxophone). Kris Schroeder: "For years we've worked at bringing the energy of our live shows into the studio and thus far it's been a bit hit-and-miss. The trick this time was to pull a switcheroo and bring the studio into the live show; the result is the best and closest to us we've sounded yet."
