Leeds scoundrels BLACK WIRE have been trawling across the country for a while now, selling their sleaze -punk wares to any old salivating skinny-tied scenester. It's only been recently, with the release of their fantastically skewed debut album, have they proved they can rise above their scuzzy contemporaries and become a force to be reckoned with. Their debut album proves exactly why Black Wire should be getting you excited right now. The trio sensibly sidestep smug 'art-rock' in favour of a galloping, spook-core zombie mashup - the sound of the trippiest fairground ride you've ever been on. Surf guitar and 50's echo-drenched cooing bump and grind against a spluttering, sinewy drum machine tighterthan IGGY POP's trousers: it's exhiliarating, adrenaline-fuelled and catchy as hell. If Black Wire aren't hell-bent on self destruction like their wiry live shows might suggest, they could be the most exciting British punk band we've seen in a long time
