Formed in 2008, after the disbanding of The Stickfigures, 6s & 7s have quickly risen through the Perth live ranks to become one of the best known and most frequently gigging outfits in town. Armed with Josh Fontaine's immaculate peerless songs, they have spent the last two years reacquainting audiences with the power of his live falsetto and fiery guitar, alongside his new band, featuring members of New Rules for Boats, Superengine, Dom Mariani and the Majestic Kelp, The Burton Cool Suit and The Bank Holidays. For their debut album, they've taken Fontaine's songs, transforming them into a long lo-fi epic that stitches the ephemera of Panda Bear to the futuristic sadness of Grandaddy, and can quickly shift between My Morning Jacket-style melodies and Xiu Xiu-style madness. With contributions from over 20 members of the Perth music fraternity, the result is somewhat of a quirky and hungover Pet Sounds... The album also unveils reinventions of a couple of old favourites from Fontaine's previous incarnations including the 2007 WAMi Song of the Year Holidayz.
