Sharp melodies layer heart-pumping pulses and droning beats. THE OLD HAUNTS are raw and rhythmic punk rock in the Northwest tradition of THE WIPERS, DEAD MOON, FRENCHIE and the GERMAN GIRLS. They are a trio from Olympia, WA currently composed of CRAIG (SERUM GRAYS), SCOTT (TWO TON BOA, THE SEDAN), and DANNY (The Sedan, ENEMYMINE, MOCKET). 'Fallow Field' features 60's influenced production with enough of that basement-party sound to leave the energy intact. With vocals similar to RICHARD HELL, lyrics that illustrate the feeling of winter in the Northwest, along with melodic bass lines, sparse drums, and jagged, icy guitar they reconstruct the Northwest punk sound to make it their own. 'Fallow Field' is their first full length and features appearances by CHRIS SUTTON (DUB NARCOTIC SOUND SYSTEM), and NATALIE COX (THE REAGAN YEARS).
$19.99 (AUD) MOUNTAIN STATIC is the new project of Melbourne based musician SIMON GIBBS, who was formerly the singer and multiinstrumentalist in TTT (Tic Toc Tokyo). Mountain Static was born from a need to experiment with instrumentation but at the same time maintain a keen sense of melody. Taking its lead from folk art and sacred music, 'Research' explores themes of exile, migration and return and what it means to travel and engage with the landscape. | $19.99 (AUD) The platinum-selling Vancouver quartet builds arena-ready hooks around hard rocking stories of good times, bad times and everything in between. "Lowlife" is a raucous anthem celebrating simple pleasures. Meanwhile, "The Bitch Came Back" gives a hilarious send-off to a bad ex with roaring guitars and flourishes of horns. | $24.99 (AUD) | Chronicles Of Sapphire Sundew, The $19.99 (AUD) |
