"Hellcat over the world!" exclaims Joe Strummer on a New York rooftop with Tim Armstrong as they both kick-off one of the most highly anticipated releases for Hellcat Records in recent memory. The GIVE 'EM THE BOOT DVD (a film by Tim Armstrong).
Featuring eighty-two minutes of extremely rare, never-before-seen international concert performance footage of bands such as Rancid, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Dropkick Murphys, The Slackers, Roger Miret and the Disasters and Tiger Army - to name just a few, the GIVE 'EM THE BOOT DVD is a gritty look into the underworld of Hellcat Records through the eyes of founder Tim Armstrong and a hoard of his Hellcat family members! Highlights include performances and extra footage from tours such as the Rancid/ NOFX tour, the first Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards tour, various headline tours and both Hellcat Records’ Punks VS. Psychos Tours.
Artistically rendered in the "classic" Hellcat style, the GIVE 'EM THE BOOT DVD visuals are grainy, high-contrast and street-influenced. The visual style, however, does not reflect the audio portion of the DVD! The soundtrack is crisp, clear and extracted from media of the highest quality!
The GIVE 'EM THE BOOT DVD features an outstanding performance by Joe Strummer And The Mescaleros at The Brixton Academy, during the Global A Go-Go Tour shot with the help of Clash DJ, Clash Video and Filmmaker, B.A.D. member Don Letts and his crew, "b-roll" footage of Tim Armstong performing Rancid's "Rats In The Hallway" acoustically over a montage of Rancid footage. You’ll also find a terrific energetic backstage performance with Iggy Pop singing his classic "No Fun" with Rancid as his backing band. There are some extra added video perks featuring surprise cameos and duets from the likes of AFI's Davey Havok and a stellar piece about the making of the Joe Strummer And The Mesacleros tribute video for "Redemption Song".
The GIVE 'EM THE BOOT DVD is the first time that live Rancid footage will be made available for public consumption.
