Everyone's favorite (and only existing) punk rock all-star cover band ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES are back with their latest offering, Go Down Under. Instead of enhancing (or disgracing, depending on who you ask) one specific genre of music, as is their typical approach, this time they've decided to take on the music of an entire continent. As you may have guessed from the album's title, Australia is the lucky recipient of the GIMMES latest musical makeover. Crikey! Five tracks from proud Aussies The Easybeats, INXS, Olivia Newton-John, Air Supply and Rick Springfield are belted out with the boisterous fun-loving style that only the GIMMES know how to pull off. Didgeridoos be damned, these tunes are all brimming with ripping guitar leads, up-tempo rhythms, and the signature silky smooth vocals of Spike Slawson. Go Down Under is their first newly re corded material since 2006 and from the opening riff it's blatantly clear that they haven't missed a beat.

5 Aussie Songs

Matthew on 14.03.2011

I bought this as a colored Vinyl; But downloaded the songs as well. At first Listen I didn't like the first track (INXS 'Never Tear us apart') But now I love all the songs. $14 sounds a bit rich for only 5 songs but it Should not dissapoint.
