Picking up where the Tendrils album left off, this is Joel playing the drunken bard with a headful of hate (as distinct from the drunken rocker with a head full of hate that brought about Hoss). This is hard going: the only thing more strung out than his vocals (makes early Neil Young sound like latter day Tom Waits!) is his EXTREMELY fragile state of mind. I think that it's music that he's playing in the background there as well, though at times it sounds like little more than decorative dead air. Talking it down am I? Those of you who have fallen under Joel's charm will be salivating at the thought of this one. Get to it...you know you want it.
