This record is full of what I call rock poetry. On the page it scans about as well as a faulty barcode through a supermarket checkout, but in context - sung passionately with a great band rocking away in the background - it has a beautiful, elegiac quality. This is the sort of album that people who were growing up when it was released will look back on in decades to come, old, washed up and sentimental, and see this as the defining record of their now-distant youth. In turns self-deprecating, wistful and defiant, Tim Rogers never sounds anything less than totally honest as his fragile voice infuses his words with a strangely delicate and vulnerable quality.
