If you loved the spectacular '69 Love Songs' triple album, then Domino's release of five Magnetic Fields' back catalogue albums in Australia for the very first time is really something to sing about! - We're proud to announce the local release of some hard-to-find and well-loved music from "the greatest songwriter of his generation" (Time Out).
The Magnetic Fields is the music of songwriter-producer-instrumentalist Stephin Merritt, with the aid of various guest musicians on cello, tuba, vocals and exotic percussion. In the studio, The Magnetic Fields are essentially all Stephin, while for touring the ensemble consists of four members: Merritt on vocals and guitar, cellist Sam Davol, second guitarist John Woo and Claudia Gonson on drums, keyboards and vocals. - The 'Wayward Bus' and 'Distant Plastic Trees' are two full length albums on one disc recorded in 1991 and 1992, while the classic 'House of Tomorrow' EP followed shortly after and was previously only available as a set of limited seven inch singles. - 'The Charm of the Highway Strip' and 'Holiday' albums (Brian Wilson is a huge fan!) garnered rave reviews, as did 'Get Lost'. These were followed by the undeniable breakthrough masterpiece, '69 Love Songs', which the Sunday Times called "one of the most remarkable records ever made", and to this day is still a fave with Aussies! - The release of these titles is sure to have fans excited.
