The Baltimore four-piece's 2006 debut, Kamehameha, used frothy, candied art-punk,with surf-splotched guitars and ricocheting drums, as a shiny playpen for vocalist Molly Sigel's improvisatory farm-animal ululations. Bunkering down in their hometown, PONYTAIL and J Robbins twisted and tweaked to a final outcome that truly embodies the spirit of the bands live gigs. Complex yet pop, raw yet refined, heavy yet sweet, "ICE CREAM SPIRITUAL" needs to be blasted while standing. "ICE CREAM SPIRITUAL" contains everything a Deerhoof-like scissor kick to traditional song structure, the track jerks from No Age's loose, trilling ambience to wiry, explosive bursts, with spaghetti Western backing vocals and Sigel chirping rooster berserk crow.

For the past seventeen years front man Chris Conley has been bearing his soul and reinventing his musical identity with each successive step, a process that is clearly culminating with Saves The Day's seventh full-length Daybreak. The third part of a trilogy sees Conley moving past the anger and frustration that has defined the band's last two albums and rediscovering a sense of wonder with the world that he can't wait to share with his listeners.
