The story behind Dead Kennedys' 1981 EP In God We Trust, Inc. is an interesting one. A year after the release of their classic full-length debut, Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, the California punk band (with new drummer D.H. Peligro in tow) entered San Francisco's Subterranean Studios to cut tracks for an EP. The session was recorded and videotaped, but the only problem was, the tapes became damaged soon after and were rendered unusable. As a result, the songs were re-recorded two months later at another San Francisco facility, Mobius Studios -- resulting in the renditions that are known and loved as In God We Trust, Inc.. Somehow, the folks at Music Video Distributors were able to secure a serviceable copy of the original sessions, which were then issued as the DVD In God We Trust, Inc.: The Lost Tapes. It will be interesting to longtime fans to see this behind-the-scenes footage, but after a while, it gets a bit dull just watching the dudes record. Since the EP only consisted of eight songs, the DVD also includes a second version of each song, but this time as live, on-stage versions (taped from concerts throughout the years). This proves to be far more enjoyable, especially a great version of "Moral Majority" (which features Jello Biafra purposely dressed as a dork), an explosive take of "Nazi Punks Fuck Off," as well as a great version of "Religious Vomit" taken from another Dead Kennedys DVD, DMPO's on Broadway. Featuring Tracks: Religious Vomit,Moral Majority,Hyperactive Child,Kepone Factory,Dog Bite,Nazi Punks F*** Off,We've Got A Bigger Problem Now,Rawhide. Please note this DVD is NTSC format
