On their debut album the much loved and talked about Sydney duo KYU have created a musical masterpiece that goes beyond their year together and their years as individuals. Starting making music together only a year ago, Ky have managed more than most artists in 12 months. They've shared a stage with some of the world's more interesting pop experimenters (Yeasayer, Patrick Wolf, Why?, Tenniscoats, and Australia's finest at Homebake 2009), won two prestigious competitions (Sydney Uni band comp and the Hopetoun Incentive), and then, above all this, they've recorded an album. Freya Berkhout and Alyx Dennison have a distinct songcraft that yields the most magnificent results, a style and sound of vibrant melodies amid vast soundscapes. Building whole other-worlds out of a suitcase of instruments, Ky combine percussion, samples, beats, synths and the most comprehensive musical appetite to create vignettes of a parallel pop universe, intertwined with harmonies to keep both your heart and head whirling with excitement.
