"Rock 'n' roll is very nearly at the end of its creative evolution. But elbow transcend their influences to produce a virgin sound. A rare pleasure indeed." 9/10 NME
"There are too many trancscendent moments here to list. Thousands. Elbow remain unquantifiably great" (4/5) Uncut
You might know the history but just in case, Elbow have been playing together 14 years. They were signed in 1998 to Island Records and then dropped before anything was released in 2000. They re-signed in 2001 to V2 Records and their debut album, 2001’s “Asleep In The Back”, was acclaimed and nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The second record, “Cast Of Thousands” was also very successful entering at #5 in the UK charts and receiving even more critical acclaim. Fast-forward to 2005 and while most bands seem to explode into the spotlight and fade away swiftly these days, Elbow steadily grow in stature with every release. This is perhaps their greatest album to date and definitely features some of their greatest songs. In the UK the first single ‘Forget Myself’ has received more radio play than ever before and once again the press have gone absolutely mad for the album. This might just be Elbow's year!
