The Blood Brothers were an American post-hardcore band formed in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington in 1997. The quintet released five albums during their 10 year existence. They officially broke up in November 2007, spawning the bands Jaguar Love and Past Lives.Like Rites of Spring and Refused before them, the Blood Brothers were a band at the start of something, a hardcore band that subverted the macho posturing of the genre with dance-inflected beats, tense, high-pitched vocals, and sly nods at pop-song structure and melody. Now the core of the Blood Brothers catalog comes to Epitaph. Long unavailable, these four seminal albums are now offered in radically enhanced versions, with bonus studio tracks, videos and live tracks. As their legacy and reputation grows, new fans will want to discover what the noise was all about, much as a new generation of fans has returned to the music of At the Drive-In, a band whose history parallels the Blood Brothers in many ways.

The female-fronted noise poppers are certainly content to mine the depleted fields of shoegaze and twee indie sounds for inspiration, the group creates a maelstrom of melody out of both, with a layered, fuzzy approach that incorporates big, clean riffage, anonymous vocals hiding in the background, and a considerable churn across memorable four-minute pop songs.
