Returning to their original home of Creation Records for their sixth album in 1998, the Jesus And Mary Chain delivered this sprawling double album master-class in experimental rock'n'roll.Unjustly ignored at the time of release by a music scene that had written the band off and unavailable since Creation closed its doors at the end of the century, Munki is a lost classic.
Taking the listener on a journey through cracked AM radio melodies, beautifully doomed late night slow burners, and feedback-fuelled noise-pop. By this point the always volatile relationship between the Reid brothers had disintegrated to the point where they were recording their songs separately, though the resulting album is an oddly cohesive and satisfying whole. Their final album to date, Munki summarises all the elements that had made their records great over the years into a powerful valedictory statement.

This deluxe expanded edition features all the non-album b-sides, rare comp track "45 rpm", and previously unreleased material from the BBC archives including a 1998 radio session and a live set recorded at the Electric Ballroom that captures the band at the peak of its powers.
The DVD features the previously unreleased promo videos for all the singles alongside a rarely seen TV performance of two songs on Later with Jools Holland.
The 32 page booklet contains exclusive new interviews that tell the story of the bands break-up and eventual reformation in their own words, including a contribution from ex-member and Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, alongside rare memorabilia and previously unpublished photos.
