This 12 song, self-titled release is Myles Mayo's first solo project, his debut album. It introduces itself with a handshake and a wink, there's a musical tale or two ahead. Myles' musical history includes his role as songwriter, singer and guitarist with an Adelaide-based band called Special Patrol. With Special Patrol, Myles has played all around Australia for years, at many of the greatest venues and festivals, including Big Day Out, Falls Festival & Woodford Folk Festival. The record is bursting with melody, bright tunes drive every song, almost set as pieces in a suite. The narrative sprinkled throughout the album jumps around between songs providing snippets and images of Myles' move from the small town of Chambers to the big city. Myles wrote, produced and recorded this quirky and emotive bunch of songs, calling on various friends when necessary. The recording feels homespun, but not lo-fi, each detailed composition arranged with a near Spector-esque sense of layering.
