For the first time ever, EMI are bundling up 2003's The Sleepy Jackson debut album 'Lovers' with 2006's follow up release "Personallity - One Was A Spider One Was A Bird' into a slipcase of classic design. Forming in the suburbs of Perth early in 2000, The Sleepy Jackson quickly made a name for themselves through exceptional songwriting, unique lyrical content and an incredible live experience. The accolades weren't just confined to Australia and word quickly spread via the global music press (NME, Mojo, Q) pointing to the genius song writing of Luke Steele.some dubbing him 'The Wizard Of Oz.' By 2003 the anticipation for the band's debut album had reached fever pitch. Lovers was released debuted on the ARIA Album Chart at #21. Releases were also confirmed in some 15 countries around the world eventually selling 70,000 copies outside of Australia. The band toured locally (including Homebake, Splendour and Big Day Out performances) and internationally (Reading and Coachella festivals). The Lovers project culminated with 5 ARIA Award nominations including the coveted Album Of The Yearnomination and a performance on the live telecast. Soon later in 2006 gave us critically acclaimed 'Personality' which debuted at #10 in the Aria Chart. The excitement surrounding that release was not just homegrown, London's influential Radio 1 has played first single 'God Lead Your Soul' seven weeks upfront of the single release and DJ Zane Lowe has named it "Hottest Record In The World". Radio 1 was not alone in the buzz surrounding the release, with XFM also adding the track, Music Week listing the track as a New Addition and anticipated coverage in NME, Q and Mojo. The album was released in the UK, North America, throughout Europe and in South East Asia. The press included 4 star reviews in Rolling Stone, Q, Mojo and Uncut. The band toured in the UK and US (which included amazing sold out shows at infamous venues such as the Scala in London, the Bowery Ballroom in New York and The Troubadour in Los Angeles) off the back of the release.
