Nick Craft was a founding member of SIDEWINDER, a band formed with brother Martin Craft in Australia in the early 1990s. After the group disbanded, Nick moved to Melbourne where he involved himself in another passion, studying history. He also bent his ear to occasional musical moments, which luckily for us, evolved into his current project THE ZILLIONS. The Zillions record was created while Nick was studying in Australia, which was made in two sessions. The first involved Craft and The Zillions' London-based drummer / engineer Rohan Thomas holing up in a Mornington Peninsula beach house to make music in between swimming and games of backgammon. The second, tracking onto an idiosyncratic tape machine with long friend Linda Radclyffe. The debut has all the hallmarks of The Zillions sound; beautifully tangled, yet somehow classically poised songwriting, lush and strangely bent orchestras of guitar and a meeting of clanging-punky riffery with glorious quasi-classical melodic turns.
